On a laptop how do you use VPN for private addresses and direct connect for public.?

I am using my laptop to work from home and I connect to my company's network with a VPN. However, the company network blocks some applications such as Yahoo IM. Also, I don't want to use the VPN when I access the internet. Is there a way to set up routing on my laptop so that it uses the VPN connection for private addresses and my actual connection to my ISP for public addresses? Also, is there a way to split DNS lookups or at least try ISP first then VPN for the lookups?|||Try Hamachi

zero configuration

( easy to set up)

fast ,secure vpn

There is a free version

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hamachi

the service is hooked up by the server

(unique ip range)

the traffic goes direct from one computer to another not via the server

You log into the service and out of it, if you wish|||I hope to GOD you can't. What you are requesting is called SPLIT TUNNELING. This is the worst nighmare of an IT department. If your computer was "split tunneled" to the corporate network it would create a HUGE security hole. There is NO WAY to get around this from the client side, i.e. your computer. (And thank god for that) You are one of the users that we fear the most (You know just enough to be dangerous :) :) :)
